14.10.09 AP298 Goes Solo!!!
Today saw the last of us fly our first solo! Everyone has also passed Progress Test one. Congrats to all!
24.08.09 - PHOENIX!!!!!!!
It's been 7 long months of hard work and anticipation but AP298 have finally arrived in Phoenix to complete Foundation Flight Training! It's safe to say that all expectations have been exceeded. We got off the plane at 1830 and it was still 37 degrees!!! After 2 weeks of groundschool for a/c familiarization and acclimatization, we will start flying on the 7th September. Bring on the fun!
10.08.09 - PPL's
AP298 is lucky enough to have been selected to complete FAA PPL's during out time out in America! Aissam, Ben Chamberlain, Rich, Roel, Nick,Firas, Sander and Greg will complete the PPL including 9 hours extra in the Piper PA28 Warrior and a few extra Ground-School hours.PPL's should be isuued early December.
07.08.09 - JAA Phase 2
It's been 6 long months and AP298 have now finished Ground-School!!!! We now have a short 3 day First Officer Fundamentals course before having 10 days to relax and nervously await our results! All celebrated with a great night out, of course!!
23.07.09 - School Finals Phase 2
After 3 weeks of extremely hard work from everyone, we have now finished the JAA syllabus and sat the Phase 2 School Final exams. The results reflect everyone's hard work as no-one failed an exam!! We will now all be put forward for the Phase 2 JAA's in just under 2 weeks time. Time to start the "Bristolling" again!!!
23.06.09 - Test Two's
It hardly seems last week I was writing about JAA's, but here we are! 6 weeks later and AP298 have completed Test Two's! What's more...the end is in sight, with only 3 weeks left of instruction until School Final Phase 2! Not long to Phoenix now...we are all counting the days!
26.05.09 - Ground-school Phase 2 begins!!
After 2 weeks of relaxing, we have now started phase 2 of ground-school. Settling in to the old style of work is proving quite difficult after such a long period of inactivity! I'm sure we'll all be kicked into touch byTest 2's (less than 4 weeks away!). Phase 2 seems to be a lot more practical than Phase 1 - now it sort of feels like we're training to be pilots and not learning how to build a plane! The course also achieved some great results in the Phase 1 JAA's with the course average being 96%! Well done to all and bring on Phase 2!
09.05.09 -JAA Phase 1
After 2 weeks of intense cramming, AP298 has completed 7 JAA exams, bringing phase 1 to a close! Now we have 2 weeks off to relax before phase 2 (meaning we don't have to spend all day sat in-front of a computer screen!). Good luck with results everyone!
22.04.2009 - School Finals Phase 1
After 12 weeks of hard work and some serious cramming towards the end, the crew has completed the phase 1 syllabus, and the 7 daunting School Final exams. All the hard work, late nights and early mornings paid off as the class score was higher than average. As the weather was so good and we had all been stuck inside studying for several relentless weeks, we celebrated with a huge barbeque and lots of beer at Upper Heyford. With the JAA exams less than 2 weeks away, we will all be 'Bristoling' during most of our waking hours and possibly finding at least some time off the head down the pub...unlikely though!
06.03.2009 - Test Ones
The crew jump the first major hurdle by completing test ones. Well done to all! The weekend saw a few of us head home for a short, but well deserved break - the rest hit Oxford for a much anticipated night out! It seems that weekends are too short and too infrequent! No time to take the foot off the pedal now though! School Finals are only a short 6 weeks away, followed closely by the first 7 EASA ATPL exams!!
26.01.2009 - Official course start
The course has officially begun! Bring it on
23.01.2009 - Enrolment
Following a day of briefs, presentations and admin, everyone had a uniform which fitted, some very heavy books and lots more equipment needed for the course ahead. That evening saw most of the 25 AP298 crew hitting Oxford to get their first taste of its nightlife, anticipating little oppurtunity to do this much with the upcoming work load of the ATPL exams. A great night out and a little Tequilla made sure the crew of pretty much strangers (although the EPST guys had met each other before coming to the UK) was a crew of new friends ready to start the challenging but rewarding journey ahead of them.
22.01.2009 - Pre-course meet up
The crew finally meet each other after months of forum posts anticipating the start of the course! With enrolment the next day, the crew met up for a quiet drink in the Jolly Boatman to do the "ice breakers" before their first day at OAA in the morning.
David leaves for Etihad
A big congratulations to David Owen for being accepted on to the Etihad taining scheme. All the best for the future and sorry that you be joining us on AP298.
